Birch Run Speedway and Event Center Set To Double Down For 74th Year Opening!
After a successful conclusion to the 2021 season at the Birch Run Speedway and Event Center, the management team went to work in preparation for the 2022 season. New class sponsors, new additions to the safety at the track as well as the completion of renovating the pavilion and the elimination of registration, pit slab and transponder fees were all huge announcements that came during the off season. The biggest announcement, however, was that of the paving of the entrance to the track, the pits, the figure 8 and the 1/3 mile as well as improving the Mini Wedge track and adding more pit slabs and firming up the parking in the Northeast corner of the pits. A few construction delays, topped with Mother Nature not playing nice, paused the original Cabin Fever 100 weekend on April 29th and 30thas well as the first stop for the Reveal the Hammer Outlaw Super Late Models that was scheduled the following weekend.
With the weather finally breaking, and paving and pouring taking place, the 74th season of activity is set to kick off with a rare double-header weekend of racing! It all gets started this Friday night with the first Friday Night Thunder Series where the stars of the DTS Modifieds will race for $2,500 to win! Joining the DTS Modifieds will be the Engine Pro VROA Vintage Modifieds presented by Wyser Innovative Products, the Midwest Classic Racers Dwarf Car Series and the All American Trucks. Wheelbarrow races will entertain the crowd at intermission and residents of Munger and Frankenmuth will be given free admission for our Good Neighbor Night!
Saturday will see an action packed night of feature only racing with the running of the rescheduled Cabin Fever 100! The event will feature the first visit by the JEG'S/CRA All Stars Tour as they kick off their Triple Crown Series with a huge 100 lap feature! Cody Coughlin won the Back to the Bricks Shootout the last time the Series visited the 4/10 mile and will look for a repeat but will have to fend off a stacked field of drivers! The Street Stocks have their own series with the Showcase Auto Sales Series that is paired up with the JEG'S/CRA events and will be racing for $1,500 to win! Also racing will be the DTS Modifieds, Applebee's Pro and Sport Compacts, Pure Stocks, All-American Trucks and the Motor City Core Figure 8's!
Pit gates for both events will open at 12 with hot laps getting underway at 1:30. The main grandstand will be open at 5 p.m. and the racing action is slated to kick off at 7:30 on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets for both nights festivities can be purchased in advance by going to www.birchrunevents.com We invite everyone to come out and catch the racing action and see all the improvements at America's Short Track Experience......Birch Run Speedway and Event Center!
