Round 3 Monster X Metals and Gold Results

A packed house of spectators on Friday night July 29th for round three of five in the Monster X Metal and Gold Series were treated to the Pull and Push, Flagpole, Back to School, Enduro Figure 8, School Bus and Trailer Figure 8 races. With only two more events (August 26th and September 30th), the points in every event get more important!

In the Pull race, point leader Anthony Richardson continued his winning ways by parking his #422 in victory lane. Richardson started last in the event, but muscled his way around the other competitors to lap all but second place finishing Aaron Abeare. Behind Abeare at the line were Eric Gilbert, Timothy Loll and Justin June.

Despite contact during the Push Race while battling for the lead with Gilbert and Abeare on lap one, Richardson recaptured his push vehicle and then took the lead after a red flag on the track and set sail to score his second victory of the night. Completing the top five were Thomas Stacey, Alex Moore and Jason Dvorscak.

Richardson got the lead early in the first flagpole race and had things well in hand with James Quinn, Destiny Gilbert, Darby Christensen and Brent Voris fighting for position behind. The race looked to be going to Richardson until five laps in, when he got stopped at the first tire avoiding the stopped trucks of Gilbert and Alex Moore. Voris had made his way to second and took the narrow opening between the two trucks to get around Richardson and go on to score the checkered flag. Aaron Abeare climbed back to finish second ahead of James Quinn, Destiny Gilbert and Darby Christensen.

Flagpole race number two featured a white flag pass for the lead. Chris Persails held the lead until the last flagpole coming to get the white flag. Zach Lopez had chased down the leader and put his number 18 to the inside of Persails and scored the victory. Paul Rigda III, Lexi VanAtta and Timothy Loll rounded out the top five.

The Spectator Drags were featured at intermission and Darby Christensen outdueled Todd Nelson to claim victory in the best two out of three final.

The Back to School Bus race featured 33 competitors signed up to do battle. Richardson continued his winning ways, starting deep in the field and timing the lights and passes of the other cars and trucks to scoop up another checkered. Aaron Abeare got close at one point, but had to settle for second ahead of Eric Gilbert, Darby Christensen and Gerry Persails.

25 vehicles entered the Enduro Figure 8 and through all the near misses at the intersection it was Eric Gilbert parking his #30 truck in the winners circle. Gilbert took the win over a fast closing Darby Christensen. Gerry Persails, Brent Voris and Justin June trialed at the line.

The School Bus Figure 8 was up next, and it was Gerry Persails leading the buses. Gilbert, who had started at the rear, made inside and outside moves to place himself in second place. The lone red flag of the event came when Darby Christensen put his bus on its side in turn three. Persails, who has been rehabbing after a nasty personal vehicle crash in the off season, was called the victor while celebrating with a jig in victory lane.

The final event of the evening was the Trailer Figure 8 Race and it did not disappoint! The competitors in the event were given the chance of a bonus for the first to establish the kill of a competitor's trailer. Anthony Richardson took the early lead and attempted to pit several trailers with no luck until he came to the pop-up camper being pulled by Jacob Michael. Richardson impaled his #422 into the back of the trailer, dislodging it from the #83 but got himself stuck on the remnants of the destroyed trailer. That gave the lead to Eric Gilbert until late in the race. Richardson had gotten dislodged from the mess by Michael and went "trailer hunting". Gilbert went to the outside of Richardson with few laps remaining. Richardson gave Gilbert a shot and then one more that broke the trailer free of the #30 truck, eliminating him from the lead. That gave the lead and eventual win to William Grubbs Jr. Finishing behind Grubbs Jr were Justin June, Tim Crabb, Richardson and Gilbert.

This Friday night will see the rescheduling of the Wheelman 50 for the Sportsman class as they go head to head in a $1,200 to win 50 lap feature! The DTS Drive Train Specialists have been added to the card with a 30 lap feature paying $1,000 to win! Rounding out the huge eight feature show will be the Street Stocks. Pure Stocks, American Trucks and the Applebee's Pro and Sport Compacts along with the return of the Motor City Core Figure 8s!
