Birch Run Speedway Bulletin

We hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year celebration to kick off 2025! Since we announced some of our intentions in our January 1st presser we have had several questions regarding personnel, race day procedures, classes, and more. We will try to address some of those questions in this bulletin.

When it comes to the staff of Birch Run Speedway and Event Center, the following are just a few of the key people we have on staff:
Andy Suski-Owner
Gus Engelhardt-General Manager
Andy Hess-Race Director
Jimmy Samyn-Tech official
Jeff West-Flagman
Justin Sharp-MyRacePass and MI Service Solutions
Ed Inloes-Announcer
Chuck Darling-Coannouncer/Marketing and Promotions

We hope to have our key people from the tower last year back as well as all of our Safety personnel and the rest of the support staff. There is a Hiring Event scheduled at the track’s clubhouse on Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday, March 2nd to round out the team for the 2025 season.

Registration for the 2025 season will happen on Saturday April 12th and Saturday April 19th. These will be held at the Speedway’s clubhouse and more details will be posted as they become available. We are working with NASCAR to avoid the issues that arose last season and are working to rectify those past situations.

We are encouraging all drivers in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Racing Series divisions (Modifieds, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks, and American Trucks) to get their NASCAR license for 2025 and will have more information regarding the benefits in future bulletins as well as helping you through the process during registration.

We are looking at our race day events and want to maximize the experience for the drivers. We will be moving qualifying to start at 5:45 to allow more drivers to have a chance to get out of work and be able to make it to the races without having to rush. We are also bringing back heat races every night as we feel it will give drivers an extra chance for a checkered flag and bragging rights.

When it comes to qualifying and the race, drivers MUST race on the tires they qualify on. Also if you go out to qualify without your transponder you will get no time and start scratch for the evening. Drivers must use the tires you qualified on for the feature, if you don’t qualify, your tires must be used or you will not be allowed to race

The Mod, Limited Late Model and Street Stock class will still be racing on the 4/10 mile and the Pure Stocks, American Truck and Front Wheel Drive class will be racing on the third-mile racing surface.

Unfortunately, the one downside of running heat races is that we add extra race time to our program. To abide by the curfew of 11:30 that we have to follow per Birch Run Township we will not be running the Figure 8 class on regular racing nights. We understand several drivers enjoy competing in the Figure 8 division on a regular race night since your classes (Pure Stocks and American Trucks) are already there. We would appreciate your support on our Destruction nights as that will be when the Figure 8s will be run.

Another class that is getting a change or makeover will be the Front Wheel Drive class. We respect and admire every driver who has competed in the Front Wheel Drive division and appreciate the support that you have given us over the last several years. While we will be following Whittemore’s rules for the class, we hope that anyone who does not fit the new rules will support the National Compact Touring Series event on June 6th. The decision to go with Whittemore’s rules is our attempt at introducing new drivers to an economocal entry-level class.

Tires and Fuel prices are to be determined as we work with all parties involved to make it affordable for our drivers.

Driver pit passes will be $35 with NASCAR members being $25. For youth ages 16 and over, pit passes are $35. Youth ages 8 to 15 are $18 and 7 and under are FREE. Anyone (no matter the age) who is competing is $35.
All minors under 18 need a parent present to sign a minor waiver and release. Once a minor waiver is signed and is filled out completely, it is good for the entire season.

Spectator admission is going to be $15 for ages 16 and up. Tickets are $12 for all seniors (60 and older), first responders, active military, and veterans with a valid photo I.D. Ages 15 and under are free.

Our purse for all of our classes should be released by March. We are still seeking marketing partners for several of our classes and Destruction drivers as well as for the track. Event nights, naming rights, signage and more are available by contacting Chuck Darling at mstrcceo88@gmail.com or 989-525-9008

Your support and experience at our facility is paramount! We are working to make 2025 a positive year for everyone involved in Birch Run Speedway and Event Center!
