Packed house sees DeLong win three and Burton two on Monster X Metals and Gold destruction night!
The last time the carnage, chaos, and mayhem of a Monster X Metals and Gold Eve of Destruction took over Birch Run Speedway and Event Center was on May 9th. The fans were clamoring for round two this past Friday, as a near record crowd was on hand, as speedway officials had to open up the pit side grandstands to accommodate the overflow crowd!
Justin Pepitone and his partner, Gerry Persails, survived a punctured radiator to grab the first victory of the night in the Push Race over Josh DeLong and Anthony Richardson.
Josh DeLong then picked up his first of three wins in the Pull Race. He and teammate Randy Clayton bested Anthony Richardson and Justin Pepitone for the win.
Andrew Burton doubled up in victories in the next two events. First, he topped a field of 33 drivers to be victorious in the Back To School Race. Cody Luark and Zane Briseno trailed Burton. Then Burton claimed the checkers in the Oval Enduro when he crossed the line first ahead of Josh DeLong and Cody Luark.
Silas Mccaslin went 'round and 'round the flagpoles, Charles Doyle, and Brad Weissgerber in picking up the Front wheel Drive Flagpole Race.
The Rear Wheel Drive Flagpole Race started 16, and when the checkered flag flew, Josh DeLong stood victorious, finishing ahead of Andrew Burton and Jason Grissom.
Andrew Burton looked to be the man to beat in the Enduro Figure 8 until one of the many three-wide moves didn't quite work, resulting in a flat tire. Josh DeLong, who was trailing Burton, inherited the lead and avoided chaos at the intersection to hit the trifecta when he crossed the finish line ahead of Anthony Richardson and Ken Cottrill.
To close out the night, Duane Damon piloted his bus to the win as the School Bus Figure 8s made their first visit of 2025. Rachel Wooten, Gerry Persails Jr, and Eric Gilbert trailed Damon at the line.
We would like to invite everyone back to Birch Run Speedway this Friday for Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Night and Autograph Night (Part I/Take IV). The O'Guinn Family Funeral Homes Modifieds, Limited Late Models, and Showcase Auto Sales Street Stocks will all compete in Australian Pursuits and 4-car Dashes as well as their respective features.
The Front Wheel Drive Compacts will be the only class in action on the one-third mile, as the Finish Line Seamless Gutters Pure Stocks and Backroad Beaute' Salon American Race Trucks have the evening off. The Front Wheel Drive Class will have double features only for their racing action.
We will be welcoming the members of the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club (www.marfc.org) for their annual visit.
