Birch Run Speedway
Destruction Doubles to DeLong, Pepitone, and Richardson!
Another packed grandstand witnessed the next-to-last event for the Monster X Metals and Gold Eve of Destruction Series at Birch Run Speedway. The crowd was treated to the usual carnage and chaos, as well as some great battles for the wins!
The Pull Race opened the night's action, and Josh DeLong and his teammate Randy Clayton charged to the lead and had to hold off a late charge by Justin Pepitone. Pepitone got to the inside of DeLong, coming to get the white flag, but had to back out to avoid tearing up both vehicles. DeLong went on to win over Pepitone and Andrew Burton.
Pepitone and his teammate, Gerry Persails Jr, rebounded in the Push Race to take the win by besting Josh DeLong and Andrew Burton.
Since school is back in session, it was only fitting to once again run the popular Back to School Race. 32 drivers and one bus made 20 laps around the third-mile oval, and in the end, it was Anthony Richardson winning over Andrew Burton and Maverick Morrow.
In his return to Destruction competition, Aaron Abeare emerged victorious in the Front Wheel Drive Flagpole Race. Caitlin Scully and Matthew Baker had the best battle in the event, criss-crossing each other multiple times in the last few laps with Scully crossing the line second ahead of Baker.
Justin Pepitone found victory lane one more time when he took the checkered flag in the Rear Wheel Drive Figure 8. Josh DeLong finished second, and Anthony Richardson finished third.
The Oval Enduro started with 25 vehicles. With some of the faster cars starting toward the back, everyone had to stay glued to all the action from the front of the field to the back. Andrew Burton started twenty-third and managed to navigate his way to the front to take the win over Maverick Morrow and Gerry Persails Jr.
The highlight of the Destruction series so far in 2025 has been the Figure 8 Enduro. Twenty-four drivers started, and in a race of attrition that saw two red flags, including one involving Andrew Burton and Hudson Corl, Josh DeLong stood victorious for the second time on the night and picked up his third Figure 8 Enduro win of 2025. Justin Pepitone finished second, and despite the damage from the intersection hit, Andrew Burton finished third
The School Bus Figure 8 win, to close out the night, went to Anthony Richardson.
The final Monster X Metals and Gold Eve of Destruction will be September 19th. Word is that on top of the normal events, the night will feature the return of the Trailer Figure 8, and there will be more buses competing in the School Bus Figure 8!
